FLIP™ for FabLess IP

The most surprising paradox is that DOLPHIN could be expected to operate in the classical way: product focus, niche focus… away from its "Technology-centric ViC Platform" approach, while most classical players are paying dearly for their dogmatism at a time when the market still is slow to take-off. The reason is that SoC designers must reassess completely their design flows, while they cannot content themselves with vanilla-flavored components: they need differentiation!

As an active member of the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance (VSIA) DOLPHIN prides itself with giving a new meaning to the concept of SoCKET™ to subsume with humor its SoC-focused Kits of Enabling Technologies! They serve to provide IP with the 3 F's of flexibility, i.e. for Fab, Form and Function.

In order to maintain a high sensitivity to market responsiveness in our Virtual SoC Kit endeavor, our SIP Value Proposition is based on offering
"Product over Patents", and then: "Service over Products"!

Thereupon interspersed, our EDA tools themselves structured in kits for adaptativeness deserve their title as Kits of Enabling Technologies. They enable, to begin with, multi-level Simulation, then the two other currently missing links: mixed signal fab-process migration, and generator-based instantiation.

The new release unveils complete development platforms for top performance with competitive "in-SoC cost":

It is completed by the MEDAL™ product line of Missing EDA Links for hierarchical design flows,
extending their swift display Streamer "SoC GDS" toward the "Virtual Fab",
with a standard Virtual SoCKET™ for hierarchical SoC Integration per VSIA,
and ever augmenting mixed-signal simulator SMASH (now in rev. 5), toward
dynamic Specification Rules Checks, and toward Virtual Test up to virtual yield diagnosis.

Our three Value-Enhancing Differentiators (Mixed signal, process migration, generator instantiable) apply fully here with our focus "Development Platforms", which combine smartly with our objective of low-end products for high-volume fabrication:

  • Rock'n Roll flagship component is the legacy 8051, historically most popular peripheral controller from keyboards to smartcards, enriched with a Roadmap toward 16/32 bit extensions, supported by pending patents on architectural features, and innovative Emulation Platforms for easy customization and instantiation,
  • Jazz stars the MYRIAD generator instantiates a whole family of ADmir converters, "Analog to Digital for the Measurement and Instrumentation Range", with a pending patent enabling simulation of the yield impact of statistical dispersions,
  • the MEM-CPS generator instantiates a family of Micro structures for Capacitive Pressure sensors with top-notch device models for simulation.

Notice that hierarchical design of SoC from SIP is not a one level process: proper interworkings of intermediate assemblies are crucial.
A straightforward combination of the above ViCs is the basis for a complete offering as "Virtual Platform" amenable to the implementation of whole "Transponder SoC".
It can be completed with embedded RAM and ROM available as "Retargetable Array Generators", as well as matching Pre-Amplifiers between sensors and A to D Converters, some HF emitter, and a Field-Programmable Phase-Lock Loop for its clocking.
