Behavioral Modeling Prerequisites

Today’s modeling challenges for simulation

Simulation for performance optimization and validation of ever more complex analog designs, such as subsystems spanning Silicon IP, SoC and PCB levels, requires selective modeling and combination of different abstraction levels. Traditional full-chip simulation approaches are unfeasible, if only transistor-level models are used, and inappropriate, if elements impacting overall function and performance are left-out!
This presupposes that analog designers in charge of simulating analog circuits and subsystems have suitable models with appropriate representation of performance both for behavior and for disturbance propagation… Unfortunately, this is generally not the case today! Available models are either too complex, because the implementation (SPICE) level is used, and/or do not model the necessary behavior or disturbance propagations which must be simulated.
Dolphin Integration is delivering a training aiming at transferring the necessary know-how to adequately model subsystems!

Who should attend this training?

This training is intended for ASIC and PCB analog designers.

Why should you attend?

By attending this training, you will learn:

  • Why simulation is mandatory to go further than prototypes and bread-boards
  • How to identify the limitations of models with respect to specific performances
  • How to enrich models for behavior with respect to required performances
  • How to create behavioral models for specific performances through modeling techniques
  • How to check equivalence against a reference model, a datasheet or measurement results

This training requires the attendees to have knowledge in analog design and basic skills in analog simulation.

EDA solutions

The EDA solution used to perform the training labs is SLASH, combining the schematic editor SLED and the multi-level multi-domain simulator SMASH.

Practical information

This training lasts 2 days during which theoretical information will be illustrated by one or several examples. It can be led in English, French, German, or Chinese. Snacks, lunch and coffees are offered to the trainees.
